NEWSLETTER No. 3
Thanks for the great response to our newsletters. It just means we are all getting the same information at the same time and keeping up to date with the happenings at our Club. I need to hear from more of you – your ideas and stories please! A big welcome to our new players – Alana and Kirsty, we hope you enjoy your time at CBLNC as much as we do. Welcome back to Hannah from her summer hols and we want to wish Alice a speedy recovery – we miss you at training!

We have 25 players on the books now and that’s far too many for 2 teams, we really need to plan for a 3rd team for the next season. It’s too hard to leave so many players on the bench – 3 teams means more court time for everyone! Let me know your views.
Maybe we need to look for a local Indoor competition at a Rec. Centre – not under C & DNL, for the third team until we can enter them into a League.

If you’re unavailable for training or matches – please contact your Captains.

Umpiring Course
October 26th – Basic Umpires Course at UWIC
Learning to umpire also helps your own game; so if you would like to attend, please contact Gemma Cannings for further details. The Club has some funds to assist here – so please nominate yourself.
Have we got players attending? If I have to umpire games, I can’t coach you, so I really need a couple of you to step up and support here please!!!!

New Kit
Our new warm up jackets are here and look fantastic! A big thanks to the guys at total sporting solutions – Darran and Matthew. Please wear them proudly to games and when representing the Club – it will raise our profile significantly. I have the outstanding Smalls Jackets now and our new Kits are about 2 weeks away, you’re all going to look great – Can’t wait to see you playing in them, Cardiff Bay LNC will have a real identity then!!
Fees
Well done everyone for your fundraising so far – the fees have been kept to a fantastic £25 for the season and that’s paying for the Kits as well, so we need you all start paying your fees as soon as possible to Janine and keep up your efforts!
Well Done all!!!!

Also for those who haven’t done so yet, think about setting up a direct debit of £10 per month to pay for the Training venue. Please see Janine for bank details.

More Fundraising:
Has everyone started to fill their SMARTIES tube yet? Don’t forget to throw in your loose change and remember – a little goes a long way.
I am sure you all read Sarah’s emails regarding future events – please offer your assistance and any ideas.

Coaches Stuff:
These are several of the phrases you might hear me say during the game or training:
Shooters: PRACTICE, PRACTICE, And PRACTICE
Throws: Try using those 2 handed passes for increased power and direction.

Eyes Up – use your peripheral vision instead of watching the ground and your opponent. How many players can you see??
Delay – use the space on court to set up a “No Go” area for your opponent, this means you will keep her away or at least delay her movement into that area for as long as possible.
Eyes on the Ball – don’t be a people watcher – watch the ball, so many times we are concentrating on the player, that we miss the loose ball or don’t read the play and see where the ball is going and attempt an intercept.
Drive – sag with your opponent and then use a change of pace and direction – move towards the thrower. Indicate where you want to receive the ball.

PLEASE NOTE:
Training Day and Time Change:
When:  Thursdays 8pm-9.30pm
Where: Cathedral School Hall, Llandaff
