To obtain the various Umpiring Awards, applicants must attend the WNA umpiring course appropriate to test applied for (or IFNA equivalent) and must be affiliated to the WNA.
“Q” Award
For beginners and novices
Theory and practical umpiring skills, qualification by attendance.
FENA “C” Award
Practical: A 30+ minute test
Theory: A short written paper of 20 questions to be completed at time of practical test (Welsh or English) – pass mark 17 out of 20
FENA “B” Award
Applicants must be holders of the “C” Award (or IFNA equivalent)
Practical: A 60 minute test
Theory: An oral test of 10 questions. Pass mark 7 out of 10
FENA “A” Award
Applicants must be holders of the “B” Award (or IFNA equivalent).
Candidates must be recommended by their Area, Regional Development Officer or National Association
Theory: A three-hour written paper (3rd Saturday in May)
Practical: A 60 minute test
